Thanks JAD, Pari

The Iranian conservative sides says the following:

Strictly speaking of the governments and not people, I say we (Iranians) cannot trust the Americans, nor the British and the Russians. This is not purely based on the past British/Russian imperialism or the 1953 affair with Mossadeq, but based on the simple fact that two nations with diverging political views and aims cannot follow the same line in their forgien policy. Back in the days of the Shah, it was understood between the US government and that of the Shah, that the Gulf was Iran's area of influence, which worked well for the Americans after the departure iof the Brits and it worked aswell for the Shah who had ambitions to expand his aura further. It was understood that the mighty Soviet Union was an enemy both to Iran and United States. In other words, there were a lot of common grounds. With these circumstances, there can be Allies. Just like Iran and Israel had an unholy alliance during the Iran-Iraq War. Not anymore though. Situation has changed. Iran's intention to expand its influence comes with direct clash with Washington forgien's policy. That makes the United States an enemy of Iran. and viceversa Iran an enemy of the United States.

This whole Iran-links to terrorism is a nothing more than mumbo jumbo used to get support from people. Iran-links to terrorism is nothing more than begger's (Iran) attempt to expand its power and influence in the face of the world's superpower. Surely, it must very clear to you and everyone else here that if Iran had a mighty military forces and aircraft carriers and all those good shiny things, they will not resort to terrorism and fifth column cells. The terrorism game is for the people who cannot afford shiny carriers. Even if Iran was super secular and free of Muslims, it will still use terrorism to expand its influence inface of conventional US military might. Therefore, Iran's links to terrorism is not function of Iran being under the rule of Islamic Republic, but just the way things works.

People often assume in the West that if the Islamic Republic in Iran is overthrown, its secular replacement will be a nuclear free happy nation where there is democracy. That is not truth. A secular Iran can be as much as enemy to the United States than an Iran under the sceptre of the Islamic Republic, and viceversa an Iran under Islamic Republic rule can be a good friend to the United States as much as a secular Iran can. After all isn't the House of Saud a good friend of the United States. So if there is common intrest, anything possible. Look at the Ribbetrop-Molotov Pact, or the unholy alliance between the slaughterhouse known as the Soviet Union and the Western allies in WWII.

Unless Putin's heir succeed to raise the realm of Moscovites into their former glory and that Russia becomes a major threat to both US and Iran, there isnt much common ground between Tehran and Washington to work as allies. Except unless Iran wishes to become a vassal of the United States, like Egypt et al.

Infact I dare say, Iran has more common ground with Israel (against the Sunnis) than the United States. If it wasnt for A-jad rhetorics against Israel and the Hizbollah support and the general rhetorics against Tel aviv, propbably Iran and Israel could be good allies against their common enemy. Why ... because of common intrest. Why did Japan and United States fought a war?? not because Pearl Harbour or the Japanese attempt to conquer China, but simply because their expanding intrest collided in the Pacific in the 30s. Then WWII happened: Rome triumphed and Cartage was no more!!

As far as nuclear weapons are concerned: Ahamdinejad is a comedian and a joke. He and his Islamic Republic are relics of the past that will be washed away in a few decades or so. A very short term in a history, but certainly a long time in a human life. Its secular replacement will follow in the footsteps of the previous regime and start building its nuclear forces. Why do we need them? because we cannot trust anyone. Not Russians not Americans. Definitly not the Americans, who have an impacable list of the unstable friend-of-the-day Allies such as the infamous triple-M mercernary allies: Mubarak's Egypt, Musharaf's Pakistan and Malaki's Iraq.

regards, I will let JAD decide if these views are leftist, liberal or rightist or paranoist.
