Im pro-nuclear. The only issue against nuclear power is, of course, safety. I think it is a bit strange that the NRC, as stated in the article, has agreed to extend the service life of existing reactors. IIRC, Vermont Yankee was originally slated to be shut down in the nineties, yet it is still running (Im thinking 25 years was the expected safe lifespan). I may be off on the date by alot, but my point is that this decision is an economic one, and not a safety one. What has changed to make this decision viable?
I think we will absolutely need to have a conscientious NRC more willing to err on the side of caution than money.
Generally, we have an excellent safety record from what I know. I am more upset with Appalachian coal-mining and clear-cut forestry, and Cook Inlet than I am with Three Mile Island.

It's "I'm" or "I am," not "Im." Don't be so lazy next time.
And it's "a lot" not "alot." Alot is not a word.
