Sure its possible. They even do it in the future except they use the "wave motion" gun and the Yamato

My little nephew sent me this utube link its pretty cool and asked me uncle Dread

is this what its like and I was like dumbfounded. I told him if it was then uncle Dread is an astronaut.

Thought Rusty,Pal and Rick would get a kick out of this also.
