Sir, Just taking the topic a little further,
India has just built asia's largest naval Base in karanataka under project seabird, in the place called karwar? But India severely lacks handling such a large vessel, which is atleast 3 times the size of its present carrier. They do have a place to dock it, but can they use it?
Why wouldnt the US sell'em, is there a policy or a law, which doesnt let them? While it can sell USS Nashville and USS Trenton, If the Nuclear deal can be passed, why not a non-nuclear Supercarrier.
From the Indian Prespective, A CATOBAR of 60,000 to 80,000 tonne's is in their vision of their future navy. The carrier is in good shape and will make a substantial gesture of friendship with ever expanding Indian Naval ties with the USN. With the current Indian naval aviators studying in the USN. I see more common areas than others. But then again it might be my myopic vision.
The Indians are in a soup now. With their future subs delayed as well as their carriers. Along with their Artillery and other Army projects as welll as their Airforce Projects.
