The simple answer to your question is that the SU-30MKI meets India's requirement. While they hold different designations. The SU-30, 35, and 37 are all based on the SU-27. Further from that, the Su-30 MKI is one of over a dozen variants of the Su-30. In reality. The MKI is considerably more advanced than the basic SU-30, it is much more alike to the SU-35, which has something like 75% or 80% commonality with the MKI.

Really the SU-27, 30, 35, and 37 designations are far too vague to correctly identify these craft.
