I have a question for the professionals in the know. A quick look at French escorts shows that most of them carry the Crotale for air defense. The Jean Bart and her sister carry the SM-1 fired from Mk. 13 for area air defense. Is that enough?

The OHP class has the same armament but we won't use it for area air defense. Does that mean the Jean Bart class is equiped with superior sensors, thus enabling them to perform this role?

The old California class CGNs were also armed with SM-1 and Mk.13. Were they designed for area air defense?
