As much as I'd like to see a modern Muslim based country like Turkey transform the rest of the Middle east into the modern society it deserves, in an Ataturk like transformation I don't see it happening in my lifetime. I'm also not convinced the rest of the ME sees Turkey as you say they do. They fought hard for independance from a very islamic Ottoman empire so I don't see them being to keen on a secular ruler.
