the WIGS is also the first response vessel for the Falklands, having a Type 23 chase down drug-runners is dumb, but having an OPV try to fend of an invasion is equally dumb.
RN is caught by geography here, having a 'real' warship stationed in the FI - given the strength of the Air/Land defences - is a total waste of resources, yet it would be foolish to have the nearest high-end warship the best part of 8,000 miles away.
