I absolutely agree that there is already a great deal of support on the mainland for an invasion, but I think that a good bit of that would evaporate it the invasion ran into any sort of serious resistance. Your statement that most of the Chinese public think Taiwan would be a pushover is something I agree with too. Attacks on the mainland would probably make that support stronger and longer lasting in the event of heavy PLA losses is what I meant to say.
