Dont think this can happen or going to. Unless US is planning to be an 'all-weather' enemy to India like China is? Even then it wont be able to wean Pak. What has Pak to lose by sticking with China. It is currently getting the best of both, isnt it?
Dont you think both Pak and China know that US is trying to do this and in effect is milking US without US realizing this?

You say like this is a loss for US. Last I heard US wanted India to support it in alliance against China? So a improved Indian strategic posture would help this or harm this? An improved Indian strategic posture will be a far cause of worry for China then it is for US. A weakened India can only help China and Pak and in effect weaken any alliance between India-US and strength Pak-China.

Too much expectations here from Pak and China. Not to forget this link is the land lost by India and if it comes back it will permanently severe the direct link between Pak and China, instead of US being made to tap dance on and off on its whims by a country like Pakistan(read China).

Looks like US is just clutching straws here.

But then again maybe we have but not let on that we have!
Would rather think it is the case. Atleast it gives US a chance to win.
