The Spanish amphib design is bigger and with more capability. Plus, after the Mirage 111O situation in Vietnam, I am somewhat lairy of buying French equipment.
The destroyers will be cheaper, from a design out there and floating and will be delivered earlier ( with maybe a fourth ship available from the money saved - go for it! ). The ships are compatable with US systems.
Some good decisions in my opinion.
