1) Increased use of barbarians in the Legions due to Romans becoming weak and apathetic.

The people of Rome didn't seem to want to get their hands dirty, as a result they became soft.
They spent more and more time being entertained, as a result they ignored the ever growing problems needing attention.
Some of their achievements such as plumbing with lead pipes as I have read may have caused insanity and a general fogging of brain function.
They spent way to much time lounging around in bathhouses with those of the same sex. And with immoral attitudes abounding the emphasis on home and family deteriorated.

4) Massive poverty in Roman cities and the lack of basic services angered people.

As America gets more services there comes more poverty, as there comes more poverty there comes more anger, as there comes more anger there comes more services and more bureaucracy and more taxation, as there comes more taxation there comes less jobs, as there comes less jobs there comes more poverty, as there comes more poverty there comes more riots, as there comes more riots there comes more need for oppressive government, as there comes more oppressive government there comes more taxation..........It a wicked snowball, but a lack of personal responsibility is the Genesis of it and the left, at least here in America seems to thrive when people want something for nothing
It cost dearly when one doesn't stand on his own two feet, when his own two feet are strong enough to stand on.
