It again shows how the British understand how to organise locals!

Their penchant to trek around and understand the countryside, people, culture etc is what get them the El
Dorado!

You have to give it to them that they really understand how to 'rule' (though in this case it is not ruling in the actual sense of the word. Influence would be more appropriate; positive influence!)
