The impossibility of finding diplomatic solution with Lebanon or political settlement with a friendly Palestinian faction is the price they pay for the greater variety of military options available to Israeli policymakers.

Thats their bargain. Others make other bargains, and get other goods in return. Some satisfactory, some not.
