Yes, there is a mechanism. CO2+other supposed greenhouse gases that prevent radiation of infrared radiation from the earth's atmosphere. Does it actually work? I don't know. But it
is a plausible mechanism. And until someone provides a more plausible mechanism (and solar cycles have not convinced me at all) I'm going to have to take anthro GW seriously.
