The British battlecruiser (if you could call her that) Furious mounted an 18" gun, orriginally she was two mount two of them. The British also had additional 18" guns developing for the N-3 design (IIRC) and 16" guns for the G-3's which later inspired the Nelsons and their 16" guns.

Its a shame because as ugly as the G-3's were they would have outclassed the Lexington, Nagato, Akagi and Amagi class BC's. The Lexingtons as orriginally designed gave a new meaning to the BC's nickname of "Eggshell armed with sledge hammers", a truely frightening design armor wise.
