Putin hinted several times, that if West accepts independence of Kosovo without UNSC approval, Russia would accept independence (with possible joining Russian Federation) of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Trans-Dniestria, in future, maybe, South-Eastern Ukraine and Cremea. So, if veto won't help, Russia has other means. West has to think twice, before it starts such process of redrawing borders.
