Honestly, though, the Serbs better look to Russia to back them up. Russia can veto any moves to make Kosovo independent.

I really do wish that Russia would have threatened war with the West when NATO started bombing Serbia in the 90's. Serbia is Russia's friend and ally and Russia would have had every right to threaten to begin lobbing missiles at NATO countries as a result of the unjust aggression on the part of NATO against the sovereign Republic of Yugoslavia.

Some Americans, like myself, were disgusted at the spectacle of American jets bombing targets in a country allied with Russia. I really wish that Russia would have stood up for the Serbs.

But it is not too late, Russia can still stand up for the Serbs today. Russia could threaten to cut Europe's gas pipelines or maybe quadruple the price of gas in Europe. Russia could threaten to absolutely flood the world with arms and even make sure that many of those arms find themselves in the hands of European criminal organizations.

Russia could cause problems for the West. Kosovo is NOT worth the problems that Russia could cause.
Russian foreign office minister said that Putin never said that Russia will use veto n UN about Kosovo. I am skeptic about Russian support to us. And even today they are talking about compromise about Kosovo and they know it is impossible. They will not cut gas to EU it is not in their interest.
