BTW, Burst mode has gone with the wind.... They are still available from Colt, but the US is buying full auto again. Bottom line is training!!!!! You have to train them, then teach them discipline to fire short bursts. Like you, I think full auto has very limited usage. But when the time to use it comes, I sure would like to have it!!!!!

I too have only had a couple of malfuctions with an M-16 or AR-15 in the last 30 years and they were new magazine related. I learned early on how to properly break in a new magazine and haven't had a feed problem since.

The only other problem I had was while I was doing a lot of rapid fire with my HBAR (See avatar) using Wolf ammo. This is steel case and a case stuck in the chamber. Busted my cleaning rod trying to get it out. Had to use a solid steel rod to pop it out. I am slowly using up my Wolf ammo one magazine every time I go shooting. It's ok to target shoot with, but I sure don't want to stake my life on it!!!!!!!!!!! I certainly don't think this problem would have happened with brass cased ammo......
