The author brings up an interesting point.

The first is that while European birthrates are plummeting, so are Arab birthrates. All of North Africa will have a fertility rate below replacement level within a decade, Algeria, for example, is below replacement level, as are Turkey and Iran.

People in Europe view the Arab countries as an endless population well that will overrun them in the near future.

Soon these countries will experience falling populations, just like Western Europe is today.

I'm guessing however that Eastern European immigration, especially from the newly admitted states to the European Union, will replace much of that from North Africa and the Middle East for a few decades.
