Its an interesting picture. not sure f he is painting a picture of informed voter or happy isolationist though.
On the contrary, most of these people are quite informed, but they do not get as invested in minor events. They are hard working people, and the most important thing to them is their families. They often feel very strongly about political issues and about religion, but they do not throw it in your face. While you may peach down to them, they will look you in the eye and tell you what they think. So maybe you should look inside yourself before you assume you are good enough to look down on them.
