And what's the point of having ground AD when you can aerial AD?

Notice that well-piloted helicopters and planes are virtually invincible against ground AD in BF2. Fly too high, and you're out of their envelope. Or hide behind an obstacle, and you're fine.
Unless opposed by another fighter or a fighter-bomber, BF2's fighter-bombers (the Su-34, Su-30 and F-15E) are probably the most powerful weapon system in the game, if piloted by experts, and the air defence vehicles in the game are just another target for the laser-designator.
