The Bundeswehr fielded a 90mm gun on a Marder APC chassis in a Bn level platoon. I was trying to find out more information (in English) about its specs and capabilities. I was also interested in its deployment and doctrine. Was this intended as organic fire support (assault gun) for the infantry, perhaps under the direct control of the battalion commander (fingerspitzbefehl)? Or was it more of an antitank (tank destroyer) weapon to bridge the gap between manportable ATRs and TOW launchers. How does this compare to the Stryker? What are the current parallels in other armies?
