These reports suck, its an ongoing battle and there are ups n downs. Pak military has beaten these guys on hundreds of occassions, but they are soon forgotten and this literature is so sensationalized like Taliban is so big in Pakistan.
FATA is a small area in Pakistan. Waziristan is a smaller area in Fata. South Waziristan is even smaller.
Unlike in Afghanistan, we cannot keep blowing up village after village in FATA. Air bombings aren't an option till we are SURE.
The only answer is absorption of FATA into the NWFP and recognized as such by the UN security council (so nobody gets an excuse to butt in claiming we "invaded" all on our own), bring the people under Pakistani law, change their culture, take away their guns, setup an industry.
We cannot kill the bad guys here. Since we don't know who amonst the tribals will or will not become a bad guy there.
I don't get why the US can't control its own Taliban problem. Just put enough men on the border and shoot anyone coming through.
