There are some who believe a Purple Heart is proof that you were too stupid to get out of the way. I am not one of those people. I have two (actually called a Purple Rose- same ribbon however) one awarded concurrently and the other in lieu of a decoration. I was also wounded (in combat) and not awarded. I wore my Purple Rose w/ cluster with pride.
