One thing I found interesting, as illustrated by Karl Rove last night on Hannity & Colmes, is that support for McCain among Democrats is twice as high than support for Obama among Republicans.

Obama is supported by 7-9% of Republicans, while John McCain is supported by 15-19% of Democrats. So much for "Obamicans", in reality it seems that there's alot more "McCainocrats."

Exactly what I was thinking. I know here in Missouri a lot more people turned out for Obama/Hillary than McCain. A lot more.

Already been explained in detail. Money, money, and more money. Hillary and Obama each spent about as much as every republican candidate... that organization is especially important for a primary, where people don't automatically come out to vote.

Found this on why Dems shouldn't get their hopes up based on voter turnout:

High Democratic Turnout Sends a Mixed Signal for November - Yahoo! News

It seems like the only two times the Republicans have had a higher turnout than Democrats in the last 36 years have been 2000 (where they did lose the popular vote) and 1996 when Bill Clinton ran unopposed on the Democrat side. So we probably cannot infer too much from those numbers. The bigger worry for McCain is how much money Obama is raking in.

I would rather H Clinton win the Dem side because just in case they won. But, I look forward to Obama debating a seasoned GOP candidate and I think McCain will run circles around Obama.

This comes from a military and Poli Sci man.
Best to all,
steve

Contrary to popular opinion, Third Parties are already in effect in the US, although typically in a limited capacity. They are the least limited in Presidential Elections, where third party ballots have essentially decided three of the last four presidential elections.

It appears that Obama's taken a hit in the polls because of the Reverend Wright controversy. He's suffered in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan, states with large white working-class populations.

NH, MI, NJ, and CO too close too call. OH and PA to McCain.

I personally just want to see Kenya-style skirmishes happen running up to and after the election between the brainwashed masses on each side. No one can convince me that the blind faithful that place their party affiliation ahead of their country dying in riots would be a bad thing.

(just kidding...kinda)

I think the pacifistic(When it serves them), spineless, gunless, energy efficient vehicle, anti-military, tree huggers are going to lose that one.

Where do you get these maps Ironduke?
I am just curious what polling data is being used. I have found this map:

Election 2008: Presidential, Senate and House Races Updated Daily

which is similar to yours, but not exactly the same.

Jersey is too close to call? I always thought it was pretty solidly Dem.. then again, I kinda think of Jersey as just an extension of NY.
