Dale, you can't change the reporter's question to be something it wasn't. The question wasn't about timetables for progress, it was about timetables for withdrawal.

I'm not saying you guys don't know anything. What I'm saying is that it's factually incorrect to assert that Romney was asked about timetables for progress in Iraq. He was asked about timetables for withdrawal from Iraq.

The best case that can be made for Romney with regards to this issue is that he was deliberately obfuscating in his answers.

He was asked if he supported timetables for withdrawal from Iraq, and his answer was yes.

As I've said, he was asked the same question as McCain and he gave the same answer as McCain.

I thoroughly read the entire Talev article, and McCain:

1) wasn't asked a question
2) didn't propose timetables

He merely considered them. After due thought, he never proposed any.

Nothing wrong with considering all the options before coming to the right decision.

Of course, feel free to try to find a question or proposal in the article. I couldn't.

With regards to Romney, I'll say it again.

He was never asked a question about timetables for progress in Iraq.

He was asked a question about a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq.

On another note, I find it hilarious that Mitt Romney in the debates attributes credit for the idea of the surge to everybody but McCain, one of its authors and its biggest champion.

I'm not basing my interpretation on one article.

I was at Ronald Reagan Library the day before this debate. That was pretty cool.
