Its like dumping higher octane into your gas tank, in hopes of making it faster in a race, but finding out that your engine has seized. & their attempts at a "cure" are being focused more on a type of vaccine to safeguard those who haven't contracted it from getting it in the future. I'm afraid my bets will be on this vaccine-finding effort being successful long before an actual "cure" for those already infected will be found.
We actually have a "cure" for those who are infected. The antiviral cocktails given today can knock down HIV blood circulation to nil. HIV is therefore a chronic disease for many (most?) in developed countries.

The problem with eradication is that the virus integrates its genes into the DNA of dormant infected cells that become active again years later. Get the dormant cells and you will cure the HIV infection permanently.

I suspect that we will have a cure for infected before we are able to develop a vaccine.

There is a huge difference between being cured and being a carrier. As long as you have the disease you are capable of spreading it. Secondly, those cocktails have to be kept up with. They are expensive and due to the evolving nature of HIV the cocktails must be updated. One false move and you are back to square one. Furthermore, we do not have any long term studies as to the side effects of these cocktails. Are we really "curing" AIDS, or are we killing Peter to save Paul. We know what spreads the disease so our efforts are better spent on prevention rather than the wink and a prayer of medicine.

I don't disagree with you. I just wanted to point out the fact is that we do have drugs that can "kill" viruses.

I don't think we are "killing Peter to save Paul". People who stay on those drugs are fairly healthy as long as the virus doesn't acquire resistance, which it _eventually_ does.

But you don't even know the man. You have no idea in what context he used the term "islolation" in. Plus that was almost 2 decades ago.

To wish him to be kidnapped and anally raped for making a comment abuot isolating a diseased patient is completely over the line.

Dale said he worked with some kind of survey dealing with AIDS patient and how they contracted. Most of them knew the risks and still had unprotected sex and/or using unclean needles any ways.

If Huckabee said rape victims should be isolated then you can say that you wish him to be raped as well.

OK. As long as you are consistant.

Personally I don't think we should torture people. Doesn't matter if they themselves have tortured our guys. However I do believe in "intensive" questioning of terror suspects who may have information that can save lives.
