Huckabee adds Ric Flair to fold

Huckabee adds Ric Flair to fold
Email|Link|Comments (1) By Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor November 20, 07 07:10 PM

As the man himself might say, "Whoooooooo!"

Actually, he does in an announcement today that champion pro wrestler Ric Flair -- he of the flowing blond tresses and trademark high-pitched yell -- is endorsing Mike Huckabee for president.

"It's a tremendous honor to offer my support to such an outstanding leader as Mike Huckabee," Flair said in a statement issued by the former Arkansas governor's campaign. "His authentic conservative qualifications and level of executive leadership experience are unmatched by his opponents."

"And like I always say, to be the man, you've got to beat the man and Mike Huckabee is the man. Whoooooooo!"

Huckabee said he's a huge fan and his children grew up watching Flair. "Ric's endorsement will help us put a figure-four leglock on our opponents," he said.

Huckabee is winning the popular culture celebrity endorsement primary among Republicans. Flair, known as "Nature Boy," joins movie tough-guy Chuck Norris in the stable of Huckabee supporters. Huckabee's campaign said a TV ad featuring Norris is among the most-watched videos on YouTube.

Flair will make his endorsement official by appearing with Huckabee at a tailgate party before the Clemson-South Carolina football game in Columbia, S.C. on Saturday.

If Huckabee could only get a big NASCAR star to join him as well, he could boast a near-holy trinity for a Southern politician: pigskin, racin', and wrasslin'.

With the Nature Boy supporting him along with Chuck Norris... Huckabee 2008 (despite his weak stand on immigration)!!!!!...

Cool. I watched his interview on Fox News and he seems like a very likeable, very knowledgeable, very down to earth guy. I like him better than Giuliani and Tancredo. I would never vote for McCain and Thompson doesn't seem like the second coming of Reagan.

All of them have/had weak stands/record on immigration. Except for maybe Tancredo.

I wonder if the immigration backlash over that piece of **** bill Congress and the President tried to pass will change their policies if they get elected.

I ain't voting democrat in 2008, but I would never vote for Guiliani.

You know I watched some Thompson interviews and he doesn't seem bad at all. Cutting money to sanctionary cities and he doesn't seem like a fanatic on the social issues. Just he is not getting the media coverage and thus won't get out of the primary.

But you can't argue with the Chuck or the Nature Boy .

I thought Torrie Wilson was from Texas.

Then again, I also vaguely remember a brunette version, with a very masculine look back around the mid to late '90s.

That said, one would never have figured OoE for one to be looking at the wrestling divas.

What the heck does being Canadian have to do with "knowing" the fine sport of wrestling?! ...and besides its been a while since I've been able to watch wrestling given my nightshift schedual so I'm a wee bit behind....

If being Canadian exemts you from "knowing" wrestling (dispite the large number of Canadian wrestlers currently in the rosters), never mind the fact that, yes we do get T.V. up here, even American channels then I suppose Canadians are the only ones who should know squat about Hockey....

Sheesh...

To be champion 16 times, he must've lost 15 times

And so he's not the reigning champion, he's lost 16 times as well
