Hmm, hey if Dale becomes president and they know this board is where he is at, won't this board be flooded with people who come here to yell at Dale or just come here to tell Dale how to do his job.

LOL...yes, but I'm sure Dale can take care of himself, and if for some reason he can't, that's what WE are for.

Dale will get his own forum I believe. Staffed with women to pretend they are him to type sentences to these people the likes of: Go get screwed, I don't care, sucks to be you, ask someone who cares, you are a woman and therefore nuts and finally grow some balls and deal with it. All these women will be 5'8" tall, brunette with brown eyes and long hair. All thin, but not too thin and have a wonderful complexion. Dale will be in the room often "monitoring" the progress coming up with with Star Wars references in regards to condoms, responsible perversion and trying to get one of them to date him. But none of them will since they are females and crazy and he can't get past the buzzing and clicking sound when they talk to him.

bonehead.

Picking a president from the best the country has to offer in the way of character and brains would only work in an absolute monarchy where the ruler's word is law and woe to those who disobey. In a democracy there are so many competing points of view on what ought to be done that the only way to get anything done is through compromise. The kind of person you'd like to see in the presidency wouldn' stand a chance unless he or she resorted to compromise, and then you'd be right back where you started from: being fed up and wishing we could just pick the best person for the job.

As for the campaign nonsense, I agree with you. It hardly seems more than an ad campaign for competing toothpastes.

Fred Thompson because he's a bald man with a hick accent.

Beware anyone that the media and popular culture would think "looks presidential."

We would have to do the same thing for congress as well. Untill the two big parties are broken up, the U.S. is doomed to slowly going under and falling as a world power. Compromise is one thing but a goverment run by either of the two extremes/ big money, just is not going to survive in the long haul. Secondly, as we have seen time and time again compromising is not what either party currently does. What we need in office are honest, intelligent people who are willing to make the hard choices to do what is best for the country and we have not had those people in a long time. I say lets get back to the ideals that made this country great.

So I can leave the staffing issues up to you then? You seem to have the concept well in hand. But go easy on the eye color - not really paying much attention to that.

You might immerse yourself in revolution-era and 19th century US history to see how bad things were and can be. Yet, we not only survived, but grew. My sense of Congress is that it has many honest, well meaning members, but unfortunately their stories don't sell as well as the few creeps and crooks who also walk the halls. Also, there is a steady beat of media and political fingerpointing out of proportion to reality. Still, we need to put a stop to excessive log rolling. Bush tried, but got a few shots across the bow warning him that if he persisted his Iraq plans might suddenly take a turn for the worse, if they can get any worse... We live in a great country with problems to solve; wield the vote; we'll get the worse solved.

The power of the vote is turning into fools gold. The parties only push their "man" to be voted on and we get stuck with voting for the lessor of the two evils. Unless you are a party insider, have the backing/money of special interest groups, or have one hell of a PR campaign, you can kiss your asperations of being a congressmen goodbye. Therfore, I would say nearly everyone in congress had his hands in the cookie jar of corruption befor they even got into office. That is not the kind of compromising that we need for our leadership. We deserve better.
