I think pakistan would be too happy if russians let chineese use their engines in the J-17.
And about putins offer to mushraff to sell helis, can i have some link(non pakistani, no TOI). I remember reading that they had agreed to send you mig-17's(even after protest by INDIA) because the clause in the agreement said russia has to pay too much money(dont remember the number tough) inorder to cancel the deal.
Remember one thing, the moment russia starts selling its jets to pakistan, russia would loose its market in INDIA.
I read in pakistani newspapers that since USA was having relation ship with both the countries, even russia can have and can sell arnaments to both the countries with out spoiling the relation with each other. In this they forget one thing that USA is a super power and russia ain't.
BTW i think we all know why USA wants to have relation with INDIA
