It wasn't, but I tell ya, man, I'm not ready to throw that theory out, either.

Because SOMEthing happened that hasn't been explained to my satisfaction yet.

Could I and all my counterparts have been so wrong? Frankly, I don't see how. Although I'm not personally aware of any massive and coordinated effort to move anything, either THAT happened, or the weapons are still there, or something else that I can't imagine occurred.

But I simply cannot accept that they were never there, or that they'd already been destroyed. It doesn't fit with what I absolutely KNOW.

It is my continuing favorite fantasy that someday something will come to light that vindicates me. That some morning when I've got the TV on before I go off to work, the 'Breaking News' crawler interupts the show, and the Big Ole Dump of Chems and Anthrax is being filmed by a Fox News crew out in westen Iraq, or maybe a Syrian general defects with absolute and verifiable proof that they're all sitting up in a mountain fastness. I may be disappointed forever as each day brings no verification. But until I see proof the other way AND an explanation on how all of us got juked out of our jockstraps...I will simply believe the WMDs were there.
