This article does demonstrate a cultural difference between the two armies and how each evolve their own thinking though the Colonel did left out British reliance on large local auxillary forces.

OIC, we still have a low casulty tolerance policy, weve only lost 525 guys in Iraq and people are swearing a streak. Yes, its bad that 525 guys had to die, but we lost that many guys in a few seconds on Omaha Beach in 1944.
