the only reason why you see islam as "violent" is because you take the ridiculously small number of suicide bombers/terrorists as somehow representative of the whole. for if islam as a religion was really a nihilistic one, why aren't more muslims suicide bombers? why hasn't the ummah suddenly rise up as one body and do the bidding of bin ladin?
but of course, the whole argument of the piece you copied goes, "most muslims aren't violent, BUT..."- in the similar vein that many racists in the american south (to take one example) say, "i have no problem with black people, BUT..."
instead of saying islam is violent, i think a more accurate idea would be, there needs to be a re-interpretation of islam in certain parts of the world. one that rejects the death-dealing parts which the article mentioned, and embraces the parts that promote toleration. in short, go through a reformation of its own.
by the way, regarding your nice theory of the evil catholics,
let me remind you of the rape and pillage that protestants very happily carried out in the 30 years war; or the way the native americans were systematically chased out and hunted down by tough protestant americans; to incidences in china and phillipines where missionaries (both catholic and protestant) used imperial power to "bring god to the brown and yellow peoples". nice try, but protestants don't exactly have pure hands either.

Have you just skipped through the whole thing? I did not take a few series of ridiculously small number of suicide bombers/terrorists. I looked into the history of Muhammed and took verses from the Quran itself. These justified acts such as terrorism and murder. And where have you been for the last six years? Terrorist groups have grown large and are still growing larger today. They are in the US, all over Europe, and the middle east is full of them. What do you mean by "ridiculously small?"
Your argument is based off nothing, but your own biased opinion.
Like I said earlier don't mistake actions done in the name of christianity for true christianity. I don't look at people's actions done in the name of that religion, but in the history and actual religion. I've seen many Muslims calling themselves Christians and committing acts of violence in the name. Later, they show themselves as Muslims, pray at mosques, and act as if nothing happened. The Bible speaks out against rape, murder, and torture and there are no verses nore a history of the man named "Jesus" that justify any of those actions. If you look at Jesus you get a perfect picture of how the Biblical description of God is. The same goes for Muhammed and the Islamic description of Allah. In comparison the Biblical God is peaceful and loving, yet gives everyone their freedom of choice. Since you're a Christian shouldn't you know that? The Islamic God is violent, contradicts himself several times, and only gives you the choice to convert or die. I suggest you reread my first post and then reply. The information has come from records of Muhammed's life and verses from the Quran itself.
As for why most muslims aren't violent. Again, I don't think you read the first post. One last thing not added in there was that most Muslims in the middle east don't know too much about Islam. They just grew up in the religion and try their best to act according to the Quranic five pillars of life every day. The ones that are fighting and blowing themselves up are the true muslims.
And lastly quit trying to change the subject to the Bible. This is about the Quran.
