I think that regime destabilization is the way to go. This has a much higher probability of success, in my opinion. But no half-measures, like when Bush 41 encouraged the uprising against Saddam, and then wouldn't back it. We're still paying for that piece of boneheaded double-dealing.
With who and what? The MKO lacks credibility in Iran and we are wonderfully linked with them (they lack popular support). Plus using terrorism on Iran could blow up in our face.

I doubt whether many Arab Sunni regimes really wish to live under the nuclear umbrella of a Persian Shia superpower.
I don't like the line of reasoning of an Iranian nuclear umbrella for AQ. I know that is not what I qouted. If I where a Sunni extermist terrorist group I would just push Mush off and use Pakistan rather then the distant long shot that Iran would give me a nuclear umbrella. And looking at Iraq and what happened in Afghanistan it is not likely that Iran would protect AQ.

On another hand I doubt Iran would like to keep living with the risk of a nuclear armed Pakistan, Israel, Russia, America and India.

I'm of the view that the Shia are a much better long-term bet as reformable Muslims, but given that there are six million Sunni in Iran and that they're a majority in some provinces, would it not be possible to give the regime its own Sunni Triangle?
So we want to push sectarian voilence?

We might just be better sending money through expats to student groups in the hopes they get killed on camera...
