Pictures are made of pixels and a picture of postcard size would be normally 400X300 pixels(Horizontal times Vertical), and each pixel(dot) represents a color. when they say 2M or 1M or 23CM, it means that each pixel in the picture converts to 2M or 1M or 23 CM of the landscape.
